Mediterraneo is bringing Africa, Southern Italy and Scotland crashing into Summerhall for a huge festival opening party edition of their world music concert series. A wild night of live Italian pizzica, Zimbabwean Jit-jive, and electrocharged Scottish folk music. Three bands and 18 musicians will take the stage, complete with furious tambourines, fiddles, guitars, pipes, marimba and dance moves from three corners of the world. Pizzica, tarantella and tammuriata exponents The Badwills are joined by Zimbabwe legend Rise Kagona (ex Bhundu Boys) and his mighty Jit Jive Band, with Scotland’s own psychedelic ceilidh maestros Awry topping off the night.
